	Sunday 09/05 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Scripture: Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18; Luke 14:25-33 Sermon theme: The harsh path of following God emerges as a primary theme in today’s scriptures. The psalmist reminds us of how intimately God knows our every thought and deed. In Luke, Jesus calls us to hate the people and things we love in order to carry the cross of discipleship. These are not easy passages, nor is the path of following God. Yet, the path is truly the path of life; the path of fulfillment; the path of becoming the people we were created to be.
